In the dynamic realm of business, finding the right talent efficiently is pivotal. Recently, Rosa Falck (Leinonen), RELEX’s lead product manager, shared her journey and insights into the innovative solutions driving the company’s success.
Rosa’s story begins in the vibrant city of Sipoo, where she resides with her spouse, young son, and two beloved cats. An avid animal lover and sports enthusiast, Rosa’s interests range from orienteering, gym, swimming, and tennis to painting and exploring museums and restaurants. This diverse range of activities mirrors her versatile approach to her professional life.
In high school, Rosa’s affinity for math and physics was evident. When it came time to choose a career path, she found herself at a crossroads between business and engineering. Ultimately, her passion for mathematics and physics led her to pursue a degree in engineering. “I’ve been balancing between business-oriented and technical-oriented roles ever since,” Rosa reflects.
Rosa’s academic journey took her into the field of automation and system engineering, with a minor in industrial engineering. Her career at RELEX began on the technical consultancy side, bridging the gap between business and technical aspects. Now, as a product manager, Rosa continues to navigate the delicate balance between these two worlds, a challenge she relishes.
As a product manager, Rosa is tasked with defining the product vision and long-term strategy. This involves crafting new products, concepts, and features while collaborating extensively with stakeholders, including the engineering team and customers. “It’s a role that requires a lot of communication and problem-solving,” she explains.
One notable chapter in Rosa’s career was her move from the U.S. back to Finland, where she took on the role of product owner for a team called Latam Pangolin. Despite joining the project mid-way, Rosa’s contributions were instrumental in bringing it to fruition. This experience underscored her ability to adapt and thrive in dynamic environments.
Rosa’s passion for her role is palpable. “I enjoy the combination of technical and business aspects in my role and the collaboration with others,” she says. The problem-solving nature of her work and the opportunity to define high-level strategies make her job deeply fulfilling.
For those considering a career in product management, Rosa offers sage advice. “Don’t be deterred if you don’t know everything about the domain,” she advises. “If you have the characteristics of a product manager, such as strong communication skills, project management abilities, and the capacity to handle uncertainty and multiple tasks, you should pursue it. Product management is a rewarding field.”
Rosa’s journey at RELEX has been marked by numerous opportunities, from switching between team lead roles and expert positions to working in multiple markets, particularly in the U.S. The support and mentorship from colleagues and teammates have been invaluable, helping her grow and succeed in her career.
